Agents can change their own password in CTI Navigator Desktop or Web where this is permitted by local association policy. To change your password where permitted, select File > Set Password on CTI Navigator Desktop's main menu, or in CTI Navigator Web's frame menu select Tools > Change Password. Passwords must have a minimum of four (4) characters (a mix of at least 6 letters and numbers is recommended) and cannot be exactly the same as your agent code. The maximum length is 32 characters. Passwords should NOT be your name, agent code, or any publicly available information. For optimum security, change your password periodically. Only agents who have been given "Password Administrator" authorization by the office broker can change passwords for other agents in the office.
For a changed password to take effect, you must exit CTI Navigator, Update (if using CTI Navigator Desktop with local MLS data), and then use the new password when logging back into CTI Navigator. Enter your new password even if "Save Password" was already selected on your CTI Navigator Desktop login screen.
If Set Password does not appear under File on CTI Navigator Desktop's main menu, it can be downloaded from the Internet where appropriate. To download this file, close CTI Navigator and then go on the Internet to www.ctimls.com/Downloads/CTISetPassword.dll. Save this file to C:\Program Files\CTI Navigator. After the file has been saved into your computer, select Open, Run, or double-click on the file to register it in your Windows. If this brings up an "Open With" screen, follow the instructions in the related article, "Register dll or ocx File."
If you encounter an error using Set Password to change your password in CTI Navigator Desktop on an older computer (such as Windows XP), go on the Internet to /U/HF.exe run the HF.exe file, then re-start Windows. This patch sets Windows to use secure code sending information to the MLS over the Internet. Log into CTI Navigator and try to set your password again.
On newer computers or if running the HF patch on an older computer does not fix the problem in CTI Navigator Desktop, you may need to configure or temporarily disable the Internet security program or functions on your computer. If you are using Windows XP or Vista, select Configure Security Settings in Windows in the related articles below and follow its instructions. Also turn ON the Windows Firewall (under its General tab) if you are not using any other firewall.
If you are using a third-party Internet security/firewall program, it should be configured to "always allow", "trust", or "exclude from scanning" all CTI Navigator files and functions. If you do not know how to configure the firewall/security program on your computer, select the Configure article appropriate for your Internet Security program from the related articles below, or at CTI's Help and Tutorials menu, or contact the security program vendor for configuration assistance.
