Configure eTrust Firewall

Firewalls need to be configured to allow desired programs (such as CTI Navigator) or program components (such as CTI Navigator Update Manager) to run over the Internet.

The general steps to configure the eTrust Personal Firewall to allow CTI Navigator Internet functions are:
  1. Double-click on the eTrust Personal Firewall icon in the Windows system tray
  2. Click on Program Control
  3. Click the Programs tab
  4. If CTI Navigator is in the list of programs, select CTI Navigator and change all the permissions to Allow (click the green checkmark in the popup menu)
  5. If CTI Navigator is not already in the Programs list, click the Add button, add CTI Navigator.exe, and set all permissions to Allow
  6. Click the Windows X to Close (in the top right corner of the screen).
Note: The exact steps and screens to configure a firewall can vary between different versions of the security program, and should be documented in the security program's Help.

If you are not successful configuring your firewall or want to test if the firewall is the problem, you can disable the eTrust Personal Firewall as follows:

  1. Double-click on the eTrust Personal Firewall icon
  2. Click "Shutdown eTrust Personal Firewall"
  3. Click "yes" at the prompt "Are you sure you want to quit?"

If you disable your firewall, remember to restart the firewall later, or configure and enable the Windows firewall (see "Configure Windows XP Security" in related articles below).
