How To Stop Google Web Accelerator

Google's Web Accelerator uses compression and prefetching through their dedicated proxy servers on the Internet to try to accelerate loading web pages for faster viewing (by humans). This service does not accelerate data transfer and may interfere with encrypted connections from your computer to your MLS server over the Internet (which may cause error 462). See the related article below, "Google Web Accelerator Basics", for Google's detailed instructions on using their accelerator. Following is a summary from this site of how to stop, block or uninstall the Google Web Accelerator.

I. To temporarily Stop Google Web Accelerator: bring up the Google Web Accelerator Menu by clicking on the Google Web Accelerator speedometer icon in the toolbar or system tray, and click "Stop/Start Google Web Accelerator."  When Google Web Accelerator is turned off, the Google Web Accelerator icon in the system tray goes away. To restart Google Web Accelerator, either go to the Google Web Accelerator Toolbar menu and click Start Google Web Accelerator or select Google Web Accelerator in your Windows Start menu.

If you've made the Google Web Accelerator Toolbar invisible in IE, make it visible again to access its icon menu by clicking on View > Toolbars > Google Web Accelerator from your main browser menu toolbar.

II. To block Google Web Accelerator from sending CTI Navigator MLS information through Google's global computer network: bring up the Google Web Accelerator Menu by clicking on the Google Web Accelerator speedometer icon in the toolbar or system tray, and click Preferences. In the "Don't Accelerate These Sites" preference's text box enter .ctimls.com (precede ctimls with a dot, not with http://) and click the Save Preferences button. When your browser shows a blocked site, you will see:

To unblock a domain, you can delete its entry from the Don't Accelerate These Sites text box and click the Save Preferences button, or uncheck the Don't accelerate this website toolbar menu item.

III. To uninstall the Google Web Accelerator: open Windows Control Panel > click on Add or Remove Programs > select Google Web Accelerator > click the Remove button > close the Control Panel.
