Fix a Dynazip error

A Dynazip error usually indicates that either some program used by your computer is corrupting the update file when it is downloaded or being unzipped on your computer (see next section), a file necessary to unzip update files is missing from your computer (see Specified module not found section below), or a damaged update file is blocking subsequent updates. Close CTI Navigator and all other programs (especially any email antivirus or security program), and try updating again before attempting a fix described below. 

In case a failed update (with corrupted files) is blocking new updates, first verify and then empty the "Update" folder where CTI Navigator downloads its updates as follows:

If emptying the Update folder does not fix the error, follow the instructions below to ensure that your Internet Firewall or Internet Security program is set to always allow CTI Navigator to access the Internet and download files. 

"Cannot create output file" or "Cannot load library" error

To fix a dynazip error such as "cannot create output file" or "cannot load library", disable all components of your antivirus and/or Internet Security (such as Norton or McAfee). If you have an Internet Popup Blocker running, disable it (see related articles below). If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Vista or Windows 7, follow the instructions to "Configure Security Settings in Windows" in the related articles below. Essentially these Windows security settings are:

If this does not fix a dynazip error when updating CTI Navigator, open Windows Explorer (right-click on Start > click Explore or File Explorer) and go to C:\ProgramData\Cti Navigator\Update. If the file CTIUpdateManager.exe is in the Update folder, move it to the CTI Navigator folder above and replace the existing file of the same name. Then Highlight the Update folder again and delete all remaining files in this folder. Next, try updating manually (Start > Programs > Update Manager > Update button). If the update proceeds without error and Status returns to Idle, the problem should be fixed.

If the dynazip error persists, temporarily turn off all the programs that startup every time Windows starts - one of which may be interfering with the update. To disable startup items, follow the instructions at Disable Unnecessary Windows Startup Items in the related articles below. Essentially these steps are:

Start > Run > Type MSconfig in the Open box > OK button > StartUp tab > {note which items are checked under Startup} > click "Disable All" > {if Systray or Explorer are under Startup Items, re-check them} > re-start Windows > check "Do not show this screen again" > OK > Manually Update. If this works, you can re-store the original Startup Items by Start > Run > Type msconfig in the Open box > OK button > Startup tab > click "Enable All" if all items were originally checked, or check the specific items to startup > {un-check ccApp.exe if it is listed} > click OK > re-boot Windows. 

If ccApp.exe is one of your StartUp Items, ensure it is not checked. Norton's ccApp.exe file should run only after Windows loads all its files and not as part of the Windows startup. (See Disable Unnecessary Windows Startup Items in the related articles below for instructions on how to install Norton's ccApp to run automatically but not interfere with other programs). Then manually update CTI Navigator (select Start > Programs > CTI Navigator > Update Manager > Update button).

If none of these steps resolve the dynazip error, reinstall the dynazip unzip DLL file (duzactx.dll) as described below under "Specified module not found" error. 

Note: Where instructions refer to {YourMLScode}, substitute CTI's 3-letter code for your local MLS. This code can be determined by opening the CTI Navigator login screen > click the Setup button > your MLS code is the first 3 letters in the Internet Server Address box.

"Specified module not found" error

A Dynazip DLL error that "Specified module not found" indicates that some security program used on your computer has removed (or quarantined) files necessary to unzip update files or zip files to send to the MLS server. To install the missing files:

  1. Open your Internet browser
  2. Go to www.ctimls.com/Downloads/Windows/DuzActX.dll
  3. Save the DuzActX.dll file to 
    • C:\Windows\System32 on a computer running Windows XP, Vista or 7;
    • C:\Windows\System in Windows 98;
    • C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\Winnt in Windows 2000 (whichever folder contains most DLL files on your computer) 
  4. Open the saved file (to ensure it is registered for use by Windows)
  5. Go to www.ctimls.com/Downloads/Windows/DzActX.dll
  6. Save the DzActX.dll file to 
    • C:\Windows\System32 on a computer running Windows XP, Vista or 7;
    • C:\Windows\System in Windows 98;
    • C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\Winnt in Windows 2000 (whichever folder contains most DLL files on your computer) 
  7. Open the saved file (to ensure it is registered for use by Windows).
