If CTI Navigator Desktop is set to use local data, CTI Update Manager can be scheduled in Windows to run automatically to update the CTI Navigator program and the MLS data in your computer on a periodic basis. For instructions on how to schedule automated updating, select the version of Windows you are using:
To schedule the CTI Update Manager to automatically update the CTI Navigator program and the MLS data in Windows 8, 7 or Vista:

1. Double-click Add Scheduled Task to start the Scheduled Task Wizard, and then click Next in the first dialog box. The next dialog box displays a list of programs that are installed on your computer.
2. Select Update Manager in the list, and then click Next.
3. Verify or type a name for the task (such as CTI Update), and then choose one of the following options:
q Daily
q Weekly
q Monthly
q One time only
q When my computer starts (before any user logs on)
q When I log on (only after the current user logs on)
4. Click Next, specify the information about the day and time to run the task, and then click Next.
Note that the information about the day and time to run the task varies depending on the selection made in the previous wizard dialog box. For example, if you chose Weekly, you must indicate the day of the week, the time, and if the task should run every week, every 2 weeks, every 3 weeks, and so on.
5. Type the name and password of the user who is associated with this task. Make sure that you choose a user with sufficient permissions to run the program (typically “Computer Administrator”). By default, the wizard selects the name of the user who is currently logged on.
Note that the XP user account must have an existing password, and the password cannot be blank (such as created by pressing just the space bar or the enter key). Unlike older versions of Windows, Scheduled Tasks will not run in XP without a password.
To create a password for a user account:
q Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click User Accounts
q Select the appropriate user account, and then click Create a Password.
6. Click Next, and then check “Open advanced properties for this task when I check Finish.”
7. Click Finish.
8. Under the Task tab, click at the end of the path in the RUN (to un-highlight the existing entry – typically C:\PROGRA~1\CTINAV~2\CTIUpdateManager.exe) and enter /Update /End so that it displays
C:\PROGRA~1\CTINAV~2\CTIUpdateManager.exe /Update /End
Note that there is one space in front of /Update and one space in front of /End. The /Update switch causes the Update Manager to run and the /End switch closes the Update Manager screen after the update completes.
9. Click the OK button.
10. Enter and confirm the Password on the “Get Account Information” screen and click OK.
1. Select View > Details on the top menu of the Scheduled Tasks screen.
2. Right-click on the task name in the scheduled tasks list and select Run.
3. Verify that CTI Update Manager runs (the screen pops up or displays minimized in the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen, and then closes).
If a scheduled task fails to run, verify the following:
q If the Update Manager runs but stays on screen after its status returns to idle, the /End switch is not properly entered with one space in front of the backslash (/). A forward slash (\) will not work.
q If the Update Manager stays on screen with the Update button black and its Status idle but never runs, then the /Update switch is not correctly entered with one space in front of the backslash (/). A forward slash (\) will not work.
q If the Status column on the Scheduled Tasks screen displays “Could Not Start”, there is an error in the path (such as an incorrect /Update). The path can be manually typed as "C:\Program Files\CTI Navigator\CTIUpdateManager.exe" /Update /End . If you manually enter the path, be careful to include the parenthesis marks “ ”, forward slash \ and backslash / marks, and spaces properly. There must be one space in front of /Update and one space in front of /End.
1. Open Scheduled Tasks in Windows.
2. Either double-click on the task, or right-click the task, and select Properties.
3. Select the Schedule tab.
Note that you cannot schedule a task so that it repeats in an interval less than one day. However, you can set the task to repeat during the day in the Properties dialog box as follows:

q Click to select the Repeat task check box, and then specify the number of minutes or hours in which you want the task to be repeated.
To schedule CTI Update Manager to run automatically in versions of Windows prior to XP, either click on Task Scheduler in the Windows System tray at the bottom of your screen (if Task Scheduler is already active), or go to MyComputer > select Scheduled Tasks and then:
- Select Add Schedule Task (wizard)
- Use Browse to select "C:\Program Files\CTI Navigator\CTIUpdateManager.exe"
- Specify the schedule time and frequency for updating
- Select Advanced
- Add /Update /End in the Run path so that it shows
"C:\Program Files\CTI Navigator\CTIUpdateManager.exe" /Update /End[Note: Use forward slash / instead of back slash \ after the quotation mark; andensure there is one space in front of /Update and one space in front of /End]
